WHAT IS A SMART METER??
In essence, a smart meter is one that can continuously record the amount of energy being used, send this information via GSM or GPRS to a data collector and provide accurate reports of energy usage when required. In turn, the accurate data enables a more informed decision making process for the customer on how and when they use their energy. Ultimately the impact of smart meters should mean lower energy bills and less energy usage/wastage - a win, win situation for all involved.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE BGLOBAL??

WHY IS NOW THE IDEAL TIME TO SWITCH TO A SMART METERING SERVICE??
Until now the technology and costs have prevented mass take up of smart-metering. Customers now have the right to own their own meters and select a data collector and meter operator independent from their supplier. With rising energy prices it makes sense to be in control.

WHAT IF I SWITCH ENERGY SUPPLIER??
bglobal has arrangements in place with suppliers which mean that the service will not be affected if you change supplier. All suppliers ask is that you inform them at the time you tender for your new electricity supply contract that you have smart meters installed.

HOW MUCH EXTRA WILL THIS SERVICE COST ME??
Currently in your energy bills the supplier recovers the costs of manual meter reading, data processing and meter operation. When the supplier appoints bglobal as Data Collector and Meter Operator he will de-appoint the existing operating agents, therefore the charges from these agents are effectively replaced by bglobal's charges for the service.

WHAT IF MY ENERGY SUPPLIER DOESN'T WANT ME TO USE A SMART METER??

HOW DO I CHANGE TARIFFS WITH MY SUPPLIER??
Following the introduction of bglobal's smartMETER service you will begin to build up a knowledge of consumption patterns on sites. New tariff options can then be negotiated and agreed with suppliers to save you money. bglobal can remotely reconfigure the smartMETER to the new tariff settings, therefore a tariff change can be made without meter replacement or a visit to site.

WHAT OTHER SERVICES DO BGLOBAL OFFER??
bglobal has developed Multi-Utility functionality into the smartMETER service. This means that customers have the ability to measure a number of different outputs in addition to electricity consumption including:

• Water, Gas and Oil Consumption
• Footfall
• Internal and External Temperature

These outputs are transmitted back to the Smart Meter, before being made available through bglobal's WebAnalyser Energy Management Software.

CAN I RECEIVE MY CONSUMPTION PROFILE DATA ON A DAILY BASIS??
The standard smartMETER service includes the provision of Half Hourly Consumption Profile Data on a monthly basis. Daily Half Hourly Profile data is also available as an option.
